Gandhi. Non-cooperation movement. Boycott. Bhagat Singh. Non-violence. Rani died. Pineapple was tasty. Wine got spilled. God appeared. Devil conquered. Rani was the last one to not die.
Gandhi was born with a disease. She was smart, humorous and chatter box but people mocked her for the non-cooperation. She was unable to understand how to behave in certain scenarios. For example, she will go and shout in a library. Doctors had given up hope. It was as if — she was suffering from an internal movement, some kind of rebel which was displayed as non-cooperative. After all she was 9 years old indecisive kid.
Affectionately all used to call her Rani. She was the queen of hearts, her smile brought in the happiness in life of everyone. She had a pretty face which melted the stiff parents to give her an ice-cream. And favorite of all was Pineapple. She adored it a lot especially when it was on Pizza. The slices which were huge for her mouth and appetite — she used to take it with a big smile and eat it like there is no tomorrow. A perfect kid in every aspect. Everyone wished she behaved like this all the time. The care was genuine. And everyone hoped for the best to come.
Bhagat was her best friend. He believed there was no one in the world better than Gandhi. There was no moment in their friendship which could be questioned. She was blessed to have a friend like Bhagat.
And the best thing was they didn’t fought. Because their disagreements would often result in both being silent and patching up in no time. They both vouched for non-violence. The idea that you should hit someone was so irrational that they would go in shock if they saw something like that.
This philosophy coming from a kid was an eye-opener. Maybe you had the education, liberty and access to many data points in life. But what is the use when you lose your calm and hit someone — left, right and center.
Everyday sleeping by 10 p.m. was the ritual. Gandhi didn’t want any trouble so she used to slip in bid at the decided time. One day, she was not exhausted and was rolling in the bed with varying degrees of thoughts. After some hiccups she realized it would be best to read a book.
She was engrossed in the reading while she heard a loud scream. Gandhi’s parents were fighting on the idea of what to do with her. Being drunk, her father didn’t made any sense. He was fed up with the constant mess Gandhi would make every now and then.
She listened to each of the word. Once they realized Gandhi was listening everything, the glass of wine fell. And that day, she realized she was a burden, troublesome and problematic. She ran to the bed and cried. No one tried to console her. She decided it was all over for her because the parents whom she loved a lot were in tension. And the reason was her. She decided it is best to kill herself, and she ran to the window and jumped from the second floor window. A loud bump was heard. Blood everywhere, not able to sense anything — all she could hear was — Rani, Rani, Rani…..oh my God.
Rani was unconscious for days and the doctors had lost hope. All that was remaining was a hope — somehow if God appears and do some magic. But it seemed the Devil had taken the control. The parents felt terrible. They vowed to never inflict such a misery to their kid. All this came too late. Only if….Only if…
3 days passed by and Rani was gaining consciousness. She soon learnt the pain everyone went because she was supposedly dead or going to die. It clicked a connection. Rani learnt she will cause more pain by dying and she decided to live and not take such a cruel decision again. Rani didn’t die that day.
But somewhere inside her died the disease. The neurons seemed to connect and doctor claimed it a miracle. Rani was a normal kid supposedly. Everyone thought so. Because doctor said it by seeing the after accident X-ray which looked great compared to the previous ones which were faulty.
Rani was a kid and she learnt so much, so fast. What about you — your arguments might affect someone. You don’t have to cause a trauma before becoming a good person. Your morals and human nature needn’t come at last moment. If anything, today is the day to start. Care, love and connect more. It only helps.
