You desire to own a start-up which becomes a multi-national bringing in millions of dollars. But you don’t want to put your ideas to test, seek the required training or have the commitment. Start-ups have become the rage where many young people are venturing into it.
The reason Uber thrived is they solved the pain customers were facing. Booking a cab wasn’t easy. Many cab drivers would refuse, charge differential rates or sometimes miss to pick you up for important events.
To add the behavior of the driver wasn’t the most pleasing either. People were desperately looking for a cure, a miracle which would solve their burning problem and Uber seize the opportunity. All they do is connect the drivers and customers that’s it.
But the software piece they provide does the magic. They have the feedback system- we can see the past reviews and the aggregate. It helps us to decline a cab service if we wish to. They are multiple cab drivers in our nearby areas and they have to accept our request.
It gives more power to the customer. And the pricing is transparent and upfront. No surprises.
What would you do if your idea wasn’t something new? I guess you would think of the idea as old and not work upon it. Turns out your start-up doesn’t have brought in something entirely new.
Make sure you add your pinch of salt to it. You would probably have Google as the default search engine. And sometimes if there is any problem you would switch to Bing. But there exists a rising search engine “DuckDuckGo” which is increasing in user base daily.
They aren’t doing great in bringing in search results. If anything their results are okay. But they take pride in the only search engine that doesn’t track you.
So if you are privacy freak, you need to use DuckDuckGo.
I am certain you might have used or stumbled upon Yahoo answers. And somewhere in history existed Google Answers too. But both of them and bunch of others didn’t rose to fame.
Quora on the other hand encouraged users to give in-depth, personal and professional answers. Sometimes witty and other times factual. Sometimes humorous and other times serious. The founders of Quora made the design crisp and the vision clear.
This motivated many individuals from many sectors to share the knowledge and now Quora has become a place of actionable advice, motivation and a place to discus trending things.
Once again, you don’t need something new to come in the market. You need to do it better than all your previous players. It seems obvious but being the best pays off well.
