You might want to become best in a sport, climb the highest peak or become world-class teacher in mathematics. But all these doesn’t matter if you work like you did 10 years ago. You need to level up your game to reach newer heights. It isn’t the same practice day-in-and-day-out.
You often obsess over the idea of the best equipment, classes and mentors. And when you don’t get those – you blame the situation. Of course those things matter to push you to the next level. But that alone won’t take you far.
Why? Because you need to perform like the best, work on relentlessly and challenge yourself to become better. It is okay for now, if you don’t have the best equipment, gears or mentors. Work on yourself to improve, slowly when you find little success – you will grow and find better supporting gears. But initially work on yourself – want to make a YouTube video and have no camera, rely on your phone camera.
The opportunities open when you look for them and let aside those excuses. When you do have all the gears, you might still obsess over the advance versions. The key is to work around what you have and focus on the craft.
Gear Is Supplementary
For gears to work magically on your skill, you need to be amazing in your skills. If your fundamental skill-set isn’t jaw dropping, hence gear can’t do much. It would be like a normal tasteless food with lots of garnishes. It might attract people but they won’t come back.
On the other hand, if you are great at what you do, fewer people might take notice but they will share and stick with you for longer time. And that’s how you grow. You need to target on becoming amazing at your basic, improve and become irresistible. When you do that, people will look behind all the fancy stuff.
And after that, you can upgrade to use all the gears to polish your work to make it more presentable. Yes, it helps present the idea in a more fun, engaging and entertaining way. Your idea, impact and spark is the core.
Leverage your strengths to create the impact you want to create in the world. Use all the equipment’s, gears and all those bells only after you have perfected yourself in your craft. Rest all comes secondary, it only supplements your work. Don’t get lost in those fancy makeover before you work on yourself.
It’s In Your Mind
You are scared about failing or doing something so bad that it comes to haunt you later. The fear is understandable but if you do nothing about it then it is something wrong. Doesn’t matter how you start, you are going to get hate comments, naysayers and the world would come to tell you – you don’t have the spark.
That is okay. Work on your craft and keep improving day by day. But you need to start – only then you can see the shift in comments from the world. The first day would be bad. The 100th day would be okay but you will get to the day when you would have great feedback.
That is the day you need to look forward to. But that won’t happen if you are blocked by your mind which tells – you need amazing clothes, makeup and inherent beauty to make it in film industry. All you need is too able to act. Rest all helps – only after you can act. Whatever you field where you want to succeed, the basic logic remains the same. Break your psychological hurdle and hustle your way up.
What You Can Do
The idea that you have the power to change the world is amazing. You can have the power and the best part – you don’t have to wait for anything. You can start now – small but efficient.
You don’t need to be perfect to start anything. You need to start to become perfect. The process will teach you many things and you can decide to upgrade slowly at the pace you want. Nothing will be 100 percent amazing at the first go. You need to shut down your inner critic and take the brave step. Only then you can achieve what you intend to in your life.
This principle isn’t some kind of golden rule available only to few – it is something we all know inside but we need a push to realize it. And then go ahead do it. You need to push that start button then the repeat button again and again.
I believe in you. Now all we need is the consistency to improve over the long-term and that only you can do. Once you believe in yourself. Start now – the best time in the universe for anything.
