It is tempting to work on something new and challenging. Regular work gets boring after a while. You might be craving for an adventurous ride.
Something which demands dedication, taking risks and lots of work.
You are ready to work on the projects. You put in the required hours, do the homework and risk many things. On your way, you give up partying and calm yourself. You believe it is okay to skip on short-term enjoyments for the long-term leisure.
And then you fail. Hard on your face. You get up and compose yourself and try to find out what went wrong.
All the hard work which you did seems of no use. You believe everything was in vain. There comes a period where you ask yourself about the validation, steps and the recovery process. Amidst all of these, people come to mock you. They are cruel and want to make sure their message is heard loud and clear.
More than yourself, others are interested in your failure. And instead of guiding, helping or analyzing – most of the people try to mock you. Nowhere to go and find solace, you are bound to make mistakes. Here is some help for your perspective.
Haters Gonna Hate
and Potatoes gonna potato. Hence you shouldn’t mind yourself because of some haters. Although you should listen to them if there is some genuine comment or feedback.
Or else tell them to shut up or politely ignore them. Whatever you do remember you are as strong. If you let them wander in your mind then they will ruin your day. You choose whose opinion should be worth giving a thought.
The collective crowd is a nuisance. They are bunch of irrational people who are jealous. Once you succeed at something, they wouldn’t even notice.
But once you fail at something, they come and give their sarcastic remarks and fake concerns. It is pleasing to them if you fail.
Should you be worried about that? Hell no.
You are the sum of your failures and success. Every time you fail, you had tried something new and hard. The more you fail, the more you had learned. Use them going forward. You know your true worth. Don’t let the people decide. Let them judge but you shouldn’t get affected by them.
After all you are the best judge for yourself. If you are being lazy, you know it. If you are crushing your goals, then you know it better.
Measure the Journey
Your success or failure is the outcome. What you need to look forward is the journey which took. Sometimes it might mean to get bold and listen to your guts.
Sometimes it means to live under your means so you can fund your projects or working through days and nights. The road to the outcome is the memorable one. You need to make your decisions daily based on the path.
Are you enjoying it?
What can you do to make it more awesome?
Can something be added to make it work?
Each day is a test of your wit and skills. Don’t feel bad basis on the initial outcomes. Make choices daily so your journey is the reward. Your record of your own work is the measure you are going ahead. Improving on daily basis is the best thing that can happen. Do at least one thing every day to reach nearer your goal.
When you do so, you will push yourself to become better, make decisions which will improve the outcome and make you a better person. It ain’t some rocket-science. It is a daily system of doing things. Not to build something incredible, although that would be great. But to do the work – day in and day out. That is the journey you wanna take.
Over to You
You are probably thinking what to do and how go on about your next project.
I suggest : pick one which would have an impact, become a brave leader who makes bold decision and try to serve the audience and not trick anyone.
Of course, it won’t be the easiest path with lots of media attention or juggling balls in front of Venture Capitalist, but your work will make impact if it has the power. You will be happy that you will have the direct connection.
And if anything goes wrong, you will have yourself to answer because you made all the decision and no one is to blame. So take credit for the success or failure, work on them and move on to the next project. The key is to not stop.
People will tear you down, your family might not support you and there will be trust issues in the beginning but if you are persistent, determined to give value then you will rock the stage.
Go ahead and make tonnes of mistakes. It is liberating and wonderful.
Just don’t make same mistakes again. Learn, rectify and repeat.
Better Work in Hide-Out
Working on something new, scary or non-traditional will get people’s comment which will be nasty, degrading and bad. The best thing to do is work in a hide-out. Don’t tell anyone – not your parents, friends or co-workers. But don’t compromise on the work. Give it your best shot.
There are 2 things which might happen : Either you will get some good results or your idea will bomb. None of these are worrisome. If it is a success then share it with everyone.
But it doesn’t work out then you don’t have to tell anyone. You can start a new project and work on it secretly. And repeat the same procedure until you find something which translates to success.
This way ensures people’s comment don’t come in your work or put you under stress at least initially. Next time you get a mind-boggling idea, keep it to yourself and work hard to make it a big, lavish and concrete success. Only then spill any details to the crowd – friends and family around you.
