Starting something new is tough. It takes huge time to make up our mind and then doing it and feeling good. Congrats on that if you did it. Now what?
Are you going to do it again?
Sometimes it is easier to do something once. It is easy because we are highly motivated, maybe someone challenged us or we did it on impulse. The second time is harder. For example, if you go to workout first day, the second day your body is aching and you are crying for help.
You want to forget about the gym and the exercise which you did. You are trying to relax and then the idea that you need to go again strikes you. You push the snooze button – again and again. Until you finally don’t do it.
Analyze your life and the minor decisions which you took. There will be many things which you did only once for some reasons and never did it again.
You might not consider this as a failure because you in your head you did it successfully the first time. It is a failure to push your limits, achieve the harder to reach goal and become invincible. Yes when you do it second time, you realize you can do it one more time and then the habit is bound to stick with you for longer time.
Yes, when you do something the first time. Instead of sharing the success story from the first time, announce it in social media, with friends and family that you are doing it next day again.
Don’t share anything good about the first experience. Say it went okay and you feel to do it again and with full energy. Go ahead and make sure even your enemy knows about it. Makes you accountable to some extent.
In the end however you need to fight your inner demons who stops you from doing it, there is nothing in the world that can stop you – of course except you.
Saying is effective when you share it with enthusiasm. For example, “tomorrow is the big day, I am going to hit gym or you all can say be lazy Jon”.
Putting the word out – everyone will be eager to mock you and you will be pumped to not let that happen to you. And you will feel the temptation to do it second time faster than you did it first time. Second time doesn’t have to be so much pressure. But if it helps – go on and do it.
Enough With The Excuse
Get yourself geared and live with the mantra – let me do it 2 times in a row to get the feel. And then 2 more times and keep on continuing. It won’t be easy – if it was everyone could do it. It takes – controlling the mind which says, lets stop.
Instead challenge yourself and fight with it. Keep pushing by showing up everyday in the long run. When you somehow show up, you end up doing it and then positive change is bound to happen.
