You can’t know everything. In the same context you won’t possess all the skills. If you try, you won’t end up being the best in all of them.
There are some things at which you will excel and rest all the things in which you will be mediocre. The good news – you have got nothing to worry. All of us are born that way.
But thinking about this fact is scary. This means you may be pathetic at many things which you need to do on daily basis. Plus you won’t end up doing all the things you start with – for example your body isn’t suitable for marathon.
What should you do? Should you accept yourself as a mediocre person? Is there a solution?
Before I tell you the answers – remember the only person who is the best judge for yourself is you. No one’s opinion should matter. You know your strengths and weakness. Plus the hard work you put into the task. Let you decide at what scale you rank.
This is to ensure you don’t lose your moral and have a reality check too. When you need to stay accountable to self then either you will do it 100 percent or just let it soar, Either way you will get the verdict.
Ask For Help
Yes, you read it right. Go ahead and ask for help. If you have got a business and you don’t know about taxes, ask for a helping hand from someone you know.
There is no shame in asking. No matter how small the task may seem. For example, you may not know how to put thread in a needle. This may seem like a tiny thing and you might feel shy to ask about it.
We all feel that what we don’t know is trivial and something easy. It isn’t. Sometimes that task didn’t came to our platter. Accept you don’t know it, be shameless in asking. But do it politely and listen, pay attention and learn the skill.
You can’t go around and keep asking again and again. Of course you won’t become great at something and you don’t want to. The key is to become good enough and move on to next thing.
This way it ensures you don’t spend your valuable time too much on perfecting something to the minute details. Just learn it so you can do it okay.
There will be some things which you don’t wanna do and those matters. Maybe it is cooking for you or accounting. Whatever it is – don’t sweat too much about it. Go ahead and hire someone who can do the job better.
Yes, you will pay them up regular salaries and benefits but you will be compensated with freedom of mind and the amazing work they will do.
If you want to go further in your journey then you will need a team who is differently capable. And you need to have strong leadership qualities to guide, accelerate and push them towards your end goal.
When hiring people, stay strong. Don’t get emotional and fear firing someone. If they aren’t the best in your eyes then get someone else. But do give them a chance to level up by funding for their learning. You need to promote learning in your team.
That’s how they keep being the best at their work and you will have your peace of mind. And you should do the same. Invest in learning at every stages. Sometimes to leveling up and sometimes to have a broader perspective.
Combining from the above 2 ways to level up, you should ask for help by hiring someone for yourself. Once you find yourself stagnant and hopeless, it might be the right time to have a mentor.
A mentor can change your business model or your life 360 degree.
Whoever it is you choose, make sure you find something from them which is helpful to you. For their guidance don’t be shy to hire them, buy them dinner and meet at uncomfortable times.
It is you who needs help. Some people have many mentors. Stick to one and take the direction and then level up to different mentor. Or if something doesn’t work, go ahead and find someone else.
If you are in the business of body building, then Rock or Arnold can be your mentors. Those the elite ones. You can start with someone from region and then go from there.
Leveling up requires decisions to be made. Make them with courage.
